Heart of a Vampire-Ch.20

Chapter Twenty:Funeral
     We had to keep Luk's funeral on the down low. We were still on the run from the hunters. Only one that I really didn't want there was Kris. I couldn't take her today and I didin't need her sympathy. I was glad that Jordan never left my side though. His arms were constanly wrapped around me in a cocoon of warmth,keeping me from freezing over in my dark,cold sadness.
     I lost my friend that I've known for several years. And let me tell you something,if you've ever lost someone close to you you know exactly what I'm feeling right now. If that's never happened to you then I can't tell how much it makes you feel hollow and in pain.
     It was time to walk to his coffin,which is weirdly ironic considering he was a vampire. I thought back to when he snuck into my room a little more than a week ago. I came up and rested a black rose in his coffin. I walked back with Jordan and just sat down,my head in my hands.
     I was a bit worse for wear. I hadn't fed for a while,sleep wasn't an issue but I still felt like I haven't slept in a week,and my eyes were almost always blue. Three days passed and the ice that coated me was starting to turn to fire.
     Jordan rarely released me so it caused my skin to become warm for long periods of time. It was not comfortable for me. At night I refused to leave the side of Luk's grave. I kept talking to the ground like he was still alive. It rained one specific day. My hair was clinging to my forehead and the water was falling in thick sheets.
     I couldn't see one foot past my face except the trees. A bright glow started to shine and it reflected against the drops of rain. I shielded my eyes that were glazed over from not feeding. I thought my heart was beating again as I saw Luk in the middle of the glow with a set of brilliant white wings folded behind his back.
      I rubbed my eyes and thought I was going insane. "Is that you Luk?" I choked through my swollen throat. He grinned a crooked smile that showed some of his teeth. "I thought you'd be glad to see me." he said. It was him. "I thought you were dead Luk." I said as I stepped closer.
     "I am Klio but I couldn't stand to see you tear yourself apart from the inside out because of me." Luk said sympathetically. I looked down. "Guilty." I said. He laughed and I felt a bit better. "I didn't come back for just a visit Klio. I came to say that the hunters' new beastly creatures are coming back for you guys. About a week from now." he said. He still cared for everyone.
     "Bye Klio." Luk said as he started to step back. "Wait. Will I see you again?" I said to him as I got a closer to him. He was less than a foot away from me now. "Maybe. I'll try." he said. Luk reached forward and gave me a hug. I missed this.
     "Try and feed soon. Jordan is in danger." He released and started back. I just noticed he had something behind his ear as he stepped back into the glow. It was the black rose I left him. I smiled and the sheet of ice that was over my heart finally lifted.
